Acquire Cannabis

From Dealer
The quickest and easiest way to acquire some weed is to buy it from your local neighborhood dealer. Read up on how buying drugs work here.

From the Dark Web
You can also buy weed directly from the Dark Web on your Sims computer or tablet. This requires you to be at least level three in either of the Dealing Skills. You can read more about how the dealing skills work here.

Grow Your Own
You may also grow your own weed, this is a meticulous process, but once you get into it it can be fun, and a money saver for your stoner Sims. Read more below under “Cultivation”

Cultivation

Growing
To start growing weed, buy a Planter Box from Buy Mode. Place it in your Sims home lot. Click on the Planter Box and select “Buy Seeds”. Select the Cannabis Seed Package. If you want to buy seed packs of individual strains, try the Dark Web, but know that all strains won’t be listed at any given time. If you can’t find the strain you are looking for, try again at a later time.

Open the package and place the uncured buds on top of the soil in the Planter Box. Click on the uncured buds and select “Plant”. Your Sim will then plant all of the buds placed there. Tend the plants with water, love and care (as you would do with regular plants in the game).

After a while you will get a yield of uncured buds from the plants. Now it’s time to cure the uncured buds so you can toke up.

Curing
You can either go into buy mode and search for “Empty Weed Jar”, buy it and place it in your Sims home lot, or go to the Headshop on your Sims computer or tablet and buy it from there. If you choose to do the latter, it will appear in your Sims mailbox the following day.

When your Sim has 15 uncured buds of the same strain in his or her inventory you can click on the empty cure jar and select “Cure Weed”. The jar that is currently curing the weed will appear in your Sims inventory. You may choose to keep it there or place it on a shelf, it really doesn’t matter.

After 48 hours, assuming you are in the proximity of the cure jars you will get a buff telling you that they are ready. Click on the cure jar and select “Open”. You will now get the empty cure jar as well as a ziplock bag of weed in your Sims inventory.

Graft/Splice Plants
The last two strains of weed (that are not available from the Cannabis Seed Packs) are crossbreed hybrids that needs some work to attain.

Your first step is to research the plants. Which plants can be grafted onto each other will show up as info in your Sims notebook on their phone.

When your Gardening Skill Level is high enough you will be able to take cuttings from plants and graft onto other plants. Take a cutting from PLANT A, graft it on to PLANT B. PLANT B will now be called PLANT B (Spliced Plant). When it’s harvest time PLANT B will also come up with a bud from PLANT C (the new hybrid). Harvest the PLANT C bud, place it on the soil of a Planter Box, and plant it.

Voila, you got a new hybrid plant growing.

Quality
The buds you can get with this mod comes with various quality, ranging from bad to high quality. When purchasing from your dealer, the only way to ensure you get the best quality is to have a great relationship with the dealer. When growing your own you need to nurture your plants to perfection before harvesting to get the best possible product.

Using Cannabis

Blunts
You can either go into buy mode and search for “Blunt”, buy some blunt wraps and place it in your Sims lot, or you can order it through the Headshop on your Sims computer. If you choose to do the latter, it will appear in your Sims mailbox the following day after ordering.

Make sure you have one cured bud of either strain of cannabis in your Sims inventory, click on your Blunt Wraps item and select “Roll Blunt”. Your Sim will proceed to roll a blunt. Once rolled it will appear in your Sims inventory.

Click on the blunt and select “Smoke Blunt”.

Joints
You can either go into buy mode and search for “Papers”, buy it and place it in your Sims lot, or you can order it through the Headshop on your Sims computer. If you choose to do the latter, it will appear in your Sims mailbox the following day after ordering.

Make sure you have one cured bud of either strain of cannabis in your Sims inventory, click on the “Smoking Papers” and select “Roll Joint”. Your Sim will proceed to roll a joint. Once rolled it will appear in your Sims inventory.

Click on the joint and select “Smoke Joint”.

Bongs
You can either go into buy mode and search for “Bong”, buy it and place it in your Sims lot, or you can order it through the Headshop on your Sims computer. If you choose to do the latter, it will appear in your Sims mailbox the following day after ordering.

Make sure you have one cured bud of either strain of cannabis in your Sims inventory, click on the bong and select “Smoke Weed”. Your Sim will proceed to smoke a bong hit. Once it’s smoked the bong will appear in your Sims inventory.

Vaporizer
To acquire the Pax 3 Vaporizer, go to the headshop on any computer and order it. It will show up in your Sims mailbox on the next mail delivery.

To use it, make sure you have a cured bud of any strain in your Sims inventory, click on the vaporizer and select “Smoke Weed”. This works both sitting and standing.

Hookah
The bubble blower is now a functional Hookah. Load it up with a cured bud and smoke your lungs out with your friends.

This feature requires the City Living expansion pack and the “Basemental Hookah (Optional).package” – Look for it in the “Optional Packages” folder where your Drugs mod is located. If you want to revert to having the bubble blower as a bubble blower, simply remove the aforementioned optional package.

Edibles
Click on any stove in game, select “Make Edibles” and craft either a single serving or a group serving of edibles. Some of the recipes require a higher cooking or baking skill. When you hover over the recipes you will see how many uncured buds are needed of each strain for each recipe.

Make sure you have a Dining Chair and a Dining Table available when it is time to eat what your Sim made.

Tolerance and Strain Emulation

Tolerance
As mentioned in the Cultivation part, the buds you can get with this mod comes with various quality. That quality plays a factor not only in the high your Sims gets, but also in conjunction with their familiarity with the drug, i.e. their tolerance level.

This is an overly simplified version of how the new system works:

Example A
> Mr. X has high tolerance, smokes excellent quality. Gets normal high

Example B
>  Ms. Y has no/low tolerance, smokes bad quality. Gets normal high

Example C
> Mr. Z has high tolerance, smokes normal quality. Gets weak high

Example D
>  Ms. Y has no/low tolerance, smokes normal quality. Gets strong high

Now, what dictates tolerance? It is in fact your Sims autonomy levels. So if you have a Sim that has a high autonomy towards Cannabis, either set by you through Settings, or acquired by gaining the Stoner buff, they will have a high tolerance. Meaning they will need to acquire high quality buds to experience a normal high.

Strain Emulation
The various strains can give you all types of different side effects, both positive and negative, but some strains are more prone to give you some of them than others.

To use an example, OG Kush is an Indica dominant strain that is more prone to give your Sims munchies than the Sativa dominant Purple Haze which is more prone to give your Sims bouts of inspiration and creativity, whereas both can in fact trigger both of those mind states, they are just more likely to do what they are known for doing.

Rolling Skill

Whenever your Sim rolls a blunt or joint, they will build their rolling skill. It’s a mini skill with a maximum of 5 levels. Below is a list of the level perks.

  • Level 1 – You just gained the skill
  • Level 2 – You get a happy buff for decently rolled spliffs
  • Level 3 – You get 2 spliffs for 1 bud
  • Level 4 – You get a confident buff for perfectly rolled spliffs
  • Level 5 – You get 3 spliffs for 1 bud
Sharing Cannabis

Blunts and Joints
To share a joint or blunt, make sure you have one in your Sims inventory. Use the interaction “Sit and Chat here” with the friend (you need a Friendship level of above 25%) you want to share it with on either a sofa or a love seat.

Click on your friend and select “Share Joint” or “Share Blunt”.

Note: This goes through the “Sit Intimate” romantic category, without actually adding any romance points to either of the Sims involved. This seemed like the only way to get this to work properly and restricted to sitting next to one another. Due to this, when the animation is over and both of your Sims are high, if you do not queue up another interaction that isn’t romantic, your Sim might get all cuddly.

Bongs
Make sure you have a cured bud in your Sims inventory, click on the Bong and select “Share Bong With…” select a Sim (from the dropdown list) that your Sim is friendly with (you need a friendship level of above 25% for the option to show up), that is in close proximity to the bong.

The Sim you selected will proceed to walk over to the bong and smoke a hit and the cured bud from your Sims inventory will disappear.

Edibles
Make a group serving of edibles. Click on the group serving plate of edibles and select call to meal.

Make sure you have available Dining Chairs and a Dining Table for all the participants.

Side Effects

Overindulging is never a good thing. I am sure your Sim will smoke up like a responsible adult, but if that is not the case, here are some of the side effects that might occur.

Stoner
Sims who keeps on smoking tons of weed will eventually get a “Stoner” buff. This buff lasts for 5 days and is refreshed every time your Sim smokes more weed. If your Sim is not high while the buff is active, he or she might get a bit jittery and antsy until he or she smokes more weed.

Smoking Too Much
If your Sim smokes too much or eats too much edibles he or she might experience negative effects from it. Paranoia, drowsiness, etc. Sleeping it off usually helps, though.

Plant Quality

Included in the mod is a change of the quality names for every plant in game, including the base game ones. The reason for this is that the names set for the quality of the plants didn’t make sense. There were no bad qualities, just nice, great, awesome, perfect etc.

Now the named quality is more realistic and should reflect the progress of the plant evolution more with Normal being in the middle, not the bottom of the progression.
