Acquire Tobacco
From Buy Mode
The quickest and easiest way to acquire tobacco is to buy it from buy mode.
Go to buy mode, search for “cigar” and you should see both the pack of cigarettes and the cigar pack. Purchase either of those and start puff-puffing away.
From Tobacco Vending Machine
A more realistic way would be to purchase it from a vending machine. Go to buy mode, search for “vending machine”. Place the tobacco vending machine down on a community lot (or any lot you want, for that matter).
Have your Sim click the vending machine and buy packs of cigarettes, cigars or vaporizers. The tobacco vending machine also features rolling papers and blunt wraps for rolling joints or blunts.
From Vendor Stalls
You can also buy tobacco from certain vendor stalls. In particular the ones that sells groceries.
Smoking Tobacco
Cigarettes/Cigars
Click on a pack of cigarettes or cigars and select “Have a Smoke”. Your Sim will then… well.. you might’ve guessed this one… smoke.
The first time your Sim smokes they will get an uncomfortable buff, which disables them from smoking more. Once that runs out, though, they can puff their Simmy lungs out.
If you feel like the smoking interaction lasts for too long and want to cancel it out. Click on your Sim while they are smoking and select “Stop Smoking”. This will stop them in their tracks.
Vaporizers
To smoke from the BM-Vape, simply click on it and select “Smoke”. It needs to be re-charged with new cartridges every so often. You can find these from Tobacco Dispensers or Grocery Stalls.
Effects
Tobacco will give your Sim a happy buff that is quite short lived. If your Sim smokes more the effect will be stronger.
Second Hand Smoking
Non smokers that hang around your Sim during or after your Sim having smoked will get an uncomfortable debuff due to the smell. They can however get accustomed to the smell if they are constantly around Sims who smoke, even though they aren’t smokers themselves.
Side Effects
Overindulging is never a good thing. I am sure your Sim will smoke like a responsible adult, but if that is not the case, here are some of the side effects that might occur.
Addiction
Sims who keeps on smoking a boatload of tobacco will eventually get an “Addicted to Nicotine” buff. This buff lasts for 5 days and is refreshed every time your Sim smokes more tobacco. If your Sim is not under the influence while the buff is active, he or she might get a lot of negative debuffs until he or she smokes more tobacco.
Cancer
When your Sim smokes a certain amount of cigarettes, they will run the risk of getting lung cancer. When they smoke even more they will run the risk again but with a multiplied percentage chance of it being added, when they smoke even more they will run the risk again with an even higher multiplied percentage chance of it being added, and so on and so forth.
If a Sim gets lung cancer, they will feel sick and tired. The buff will not let them know what is up, but it will hint at getting checked up at a doctors office might be a good idea.
If your Sim does not get a check up, their health will be deteriorating, and in a matter of days they will get even worse. The effects of the illness will increase for each time they get sicker and includes weight loss, feeling of general discomfort, and nausea.
Doctors Appointment
To get checked up by a doctor, go to the Dealing tab on your Sims phone, and select Doctors Appointment.
If your Sim in fact has cancer, they will return from the doctors office with a diagnosis, and the sickness buff will be replaced by a Lung Cancer buff, as well as the stage it is in.
You will also get a notification that you should return for chemotherapy sessions.
Chemotherapy
Whenever you get the notification that your Sim should get chemotherapy, access the Dealing tab on your Sims phone and click “Chemotherapy”. It costs 5000 Simoleons per session. Each session is available after a cooldown of a couple of days.
Once a Sim starts chemo, they have a chance for every session to reduce the cancer from spreading. The likelihood of a successful chemo session depends on the stage of cancer. Meaning, stage 1 cancer will have a higher chance of being successful than stage 2. If your Sim is at stage 3 the doctor’s will not bother to try to treat it.
After chemo has started, your Sim will become bald. This is not a gradual thing, but rather straight into baldness as it would be near impossible to take account for all different hairstyles and make that look realistic. Changing your Sims hairstyle in CAS will not remove the baldness.
Cured for Cancer
If you are lucky, and start chemo early you might get totally cured for cancer. Your Sim will get a happy buff for a few days and the normal hairstyle will return once that buff disappears.
Social Interactions
If a Sim gets cancer, they can tell their loved ones about it. Click on the Sim you want to tell the news, go to the Friendly category and select “Tell about Cancer.” The Sim you tell it to will get a sad buff. The strength and length of the buff depends on your friendship level with the Sim. Your Sim however will get a 6 hour long happy buff as it often helps getting heavy stuff like this off ones chest.
If your Sim is so lucky as to get cured for cancer, you can tell their loved ones about becoming cancer free. This will remove the friends sad state of mind and put them in a happy mindset instead. To do so, click on the Sim you want to tell it to, go to the Friendly category and select “Tell about Surviving Cancer”.
Reward Traits
Cancer Immunity
Click on the reward store, purchase the trait from there. The trait costs 8000 Satisfaction Points. After the trait is purchased your Sim will be immune to getting lung cancer.
The trait needs to be purchased and added to the Sim prior to getting cancer.
Social Smoker
This is for those Sims that wants to smoke in a social setting. What the trait essentially does is just reduce the chance of becoming addicted to nicotine.
You can find the reward trait in the Reward Store and it costs 500 Aspiration Points.
No Smoking Inside Lot Trait
To make sure Sims stop smoking inside, go to the Lot Trait’s tab at the lot you want to stay smoke free, and select the “No Smoking Inside” lot trait.
After the lot trait is added you’ll notice that the “Have a Cigarette” or “Have a Cigar” interactions will be greyed out when inside. You need to manually head outside to smoke up.
This also applies for autonomous NPC smoking.
Cancer Toggle
Toggle the cancer feature on or off from the settings, if you wish to pretend that the “harmful” in “harmful substances” actually means “safe”.
Simply click on any Sim, then select Drugs > Settings > Cheats and disable or enable cancer from there.
Smoke at Work
To avoid nicotine addicted Sims being miserable at work and getting lowered work performance, they can skip what they are doing and have a smoke. This will solve their addiction debuffs before getting back to what they were doing.
Simply click on your addicted Sims icon while they are at work, and select Smoke Cigarettes.
This should set their lousy mood straight. If you keep on smoking all throughout the work day, however, it will lower their work performance
Tobacco Production
Tobacco Cultivation
Click on any planter to purchase a packet of Tobacco Seeds and plant the seeds as you would a regular plant.
Harvest the plants whenever they are harvestable and so on and so forth. It is a plant, I am sure you know what to do with plants. Give them love and care and talk to them every once in a while when you think no one is listening.
How To Make The Harvested Seeds Smokable
For starters you would need a drying rack. The easiest way to get one is from the Convenience Store that comes with Basemental Drugs.
Just click on the travel tab on your Sims phone and select Convenience Store. They will head into town to purchase stuff.
Purchase a drying rack or two and place them on your Sims lot. With at least 15 harvested tobacco seeds in your Sims inventory, click on the drying rack and select “Dry Tobacco“.
The drying rack will fill up with leaves and after a while they will be dry and fetchable for curing.
How To Cure The Leaves
Just click on the drying rack when the leaves have turned brown and select “Fetch Dry Tobacco“.
This will automatically place the dry tobacco in curing jars for you which you can either cure in your Sims inventory or on a shelf or a similar type of surface.
After a while the curing is done and your Sim can either choose to collect the tobacco as rolling tobacco or dipping tobacco.
How To Use The Product
If you want your Sim to use their own homegrown rolling tobacco, make sure they have rolling papers or blunt wraps in their inventory. Click on the rolling tobacco bag and select “Smoke Cigarette” or “Smoke Cigar“. This will deduct one paper or wrap from your Sims inventory as well as deduct one dose from the rolling tobacco bag.
For dipping tobacco, simply click on the box and select “Use Dip“.
Do I Have To Grow My Own To Use Dip?
No. You can purchase other brands dipping tobacco and rolling tobacco from convenience stores or tobacco dispensers.
How To Sell Tobacco
In order to sell your homegrown tobacco, whether it is dipping tobacco or rolling tobacco, you need to get a hold of some cardboard boxes you can pack a lot of it into. Again head over to the aforementioned convenience store and get yourself a Tobacco Cardboard Box.
Once you have 60 unused bags of rolling tobacco or 60 unused dipping boxes in your Sims inventory, click on the box (placed in the world) and select “Pack Tobacco“.
Once you have packed the box you can either sell it through your computer, or if you have the Horse Ranch EP you can sell it directly at the grocery store in Chestnut Ridge, or to the Mysterious Rancher.
Selvadoradian Cigars
Smoking an expensive Selvadoradian Cigar is not only a bucket list item, but also quite the experience. You can get a hold of it by travelling to Selvadorada and going to the Market Place by the local bar.
It is not guaranteed that the market vendors will have it in stock every time but if you check back it will show up eventually.
If you don’t own the Jungle Adventure pack, or if you are simply too lazy to travel all the way to Selvadorada, you can also purchase it directly through the Dark Web.
